POW/MIA Recognition Day – Friday, September 17, 2021

America’s annual observance of POW/MIA Recognition Day occurs on Friday, September 17, 2021.

To date, there are 1,584 American servicemen yet unaccounted for from the Vietnam War. The commitment and dedication of the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency are helping achieve answers for the families of these and others who have yet to return home.

Sons and Daughters In Touch are proud to represent a mix of both POW/MIA and KIA families from the Vietnam War. Since its founding in 1989, many SDIT families have received answers to the fates of their loved ones. As other families await answers, SDIT proudly supports the call for the fullest possible accounting of American servicemen who have not returned home from the war in Southeast Asia.

I honor my father David J Moreno today and every day. Awarded purple heart and bronze star, he destroyed an enemy bunker along with 2 NVA soldiers within, after warning his battalion of ambush. His actions greatly aided in the escape of his platoon and removal of the wounded. He lay down his own life for his comrades and country and this makes him a true hero.

NEVER FORGET.

Tribute

I was 2 1/2 years old when you were killed. I never got to know you, but the legacy you left has brought me a great deal of comfort. It is an honor to be your only child. You are my hero, you are one of our Nation’s heroes. I share your Medal of Honor and your story with all who will listen. It is my duty to make sure you and ALL my brother’s and sister’s Dad’s are never, ever forgotten. May you all rest in peace, until we meet again.

I love you, Daddy.
